Guus Hiddink in second leg play off Euro 2012 versus Croatia |
Turkish football federation decided to terminate Guus Hiddink contract. The decision was taken after Turkey failed to play in Euro 2012 Group Stage. Turkey should be eliminated after only a goalless draw with Croatia in the second leg play-off. Prevoiusly, Turkey defeat in the first leg with a score of 0-3 in Istanbul.
Hiddink said that Turkey's failure caused by a poor system for founding young players. Young players in Turkey is less a chance to grow. All the national team representing a country, starting from under 14 years old up to the senior level, depending on how the club set up and how serious they are doing founding on a player from the age of 10 years old.
Hiddink added that Turkey has so much potential, but will more often be involved in major tournaments if the system is better regulated. Because the foundation must be placed in club and will be 100% efficient. But in Turkey only one or two players of the Turkish U-19 and U-21 that goes to the senior level.
